Chelsea and Arsenal Set For Exciting Stamford Bridge Clash
On Saturday evening, Chelsea host Arsenal in a London Derby that looks sure to be a close and exciting encounter. We have seen some great games between these two over the past few years, and often there is very little to choose between them.
Chelsea go into the game as odds on favourites, but they failed to beat Arsenal in five meetings last season, which does signal caution if you are looking to back a home win. Chelsea began their campaign with a solid 3-0 victory over Huddersfield last weekend. That was an easy game for them, but as far as building morale and momentum goes, it was exactly what they needed. They will be looking to bring that to this game and use it to help them get over the line.
Arsenal started with a 2-0 home defeat against Manchester City but we did see glimpses of promise. There wasn’t too much, but that was as tough as it could have got for The Gunners on the opening day, and they will be looking forward to getting past this tough start and put some points on the board.
The main talking point of that match was Petr Cech coming oh so close to writing his name into the history books for the wrong reasons. The experienced goalkeeper nearly produced a world class howler, almost scoring an own goal and he will want to put up a good performance here against his old club to erase that memory.
Both clubs have the same expectation this season and that is to challenge for a return to the top four. However, when you compare what they have on paper, Chelsea are a much stronger team and have a lot more going for them. When you add that to the fact that they are at home, it is easy to see why the bookies have installed them as odds on favourites to win, and we expect them to do exactly that.
