Liverpool v Tottenham Preview

Coming into the midweek slate of fixtures, Tottenham sit first in the Premier League and Liverpool sit second. This has the makings of being a classic, with a lot at stake and some of the best attacking players in the world on show.
However, Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho may have other ideas for his team.
Liverpool v Tottenham Prediction
Both teams come here on the back of draws at the weekend, games they would have expected to win. Tottenham were held away at Crystal Palace, which was a small surprise while Liverpool were held at Fulham, a bigger surprise.
With those score lines in mind, the name of the game here will be to re-group and focus, something that will play into the possibility of Tottenham being defensive even more so than usual. It is something that has served them well so far this season, and given them a genuine title chance.
With the likes of Kane, Son, Salah, Mane and Firminho on the field, suggesting a low scoring game seems a little far-fetched but that is exactly how this one could play out.
Liverpool are yet to hit their top form this season, that isn’t a slight on them, they are playing well, but not at the levels we have seen in the past. This Tottenham defence is more than capable of holding them given how well they are playing at the moment.
Tottenham can punish anyone, but if defence is the name of the game and the first priority, chances for their stars may be at a premium.
Expect a tactical battle, with Jose putting something together to keep the main dangers from Liverpool quiet while Jurgen attempts to break down the bus parked in front of the goal of Hugo Lloris.
Who wins? Neither for us.
Rather than backing the draw, a few bigger priced fancies are in order here, all based around no, or very few goals in the game.
The first is a correct score bet of 0-0, this is priced up at 14/1 with Ladbrokes and assuming Jose Mourinho goes with a defensive mindset, that will look a big price.
If you want to cover this with one goal in the game either way then a way to do that is to back under 1.5 total goals, which is available at 7/2 with Betfair. This gives you a bet on a 0-0 draw or 1-0 to either team combined into one bet.
Lastly, if you want to cut the game in half then 0-0 at half time is also appealing, available at 12/5 with bet365.
This could be the bet for those who think Jose Mourinho will park the bus, but as the game goes on and develops, Jurgen Klopp will find a way through the defence and his team will score a goal.
