Premier League Treble - 7th March
It seems we have non-stop Premier League action at the minute and come here on the back of another big midweek fixture list that has seen the majority of teams play. This weekend we have games spread across Saturday, Sunday and Monday, though it is the action on Sunday where we are going to focus our attention.
Headlining the games that day is the Manchester derby, a last ditch attempt for United to stop City from strolling to the title. We take a look at this game, plus two more, to make up our treble this weekend.
West Brom v Newcastle
Newcastle United are in deep trouble, heading towards the relegation zone and while it may be too little too late for West Brom, it would be no surprise to see both of these teams go down this season. On top of that, Newcastle have injuries to their entire front three, so goals are likely to be even harder than usual for them to come by.
West Brom are no stars by any stretch but this is a poor Newcastle team, and one lacking any attacking options so far that reason we are backing West Brom to win to nil.
Manchester City v Manchester United
The big game and when you look at this, City will know if they score, they are up against a team struggling for goals at the moment. Held to no goals by both Chelsea and Crystal Palace recently, Manchester United have lost their scoring touch.
It seems inevitable that the City attacking group of players will be able to score, regardless of who they are playing so we have to side with the league leaders here. A win will take them even further clear and if anyone was thinking they could get caught, that talk is surely over.
Much like the first game, with Manchester United struggling for goals, we are going to back a Manchester City win to nil here.
Tottenham v Crystal Palace
Tottenham host Crystal Palace on Sunday evening as they look to somehow drag themselves back into contention for Europe. Spurs are playing a little better, and part of that has been down to the fact that Gareth Bale has finally found some kind of form, after much criticism earlier in the season.
Bale wasn’t on the scoresheet during midweek before being subbed off, but before that he has four goals in four games and has seemingly found a way to contribute after a troubled start to his homecoming.
With that in mind, and with the odds on a Tottenham win looking a little skinny here, we are going to back Bale to score on the anytime goal scorer market, in the hope he can find a way past the Crystal Palace defence.
