UK Championship Snooker Betting Preview 2021
The Snooker UK Championship begins on November 23, with the final taking place on December 5. The event will once again take place at the York Barbican Theatre, a great environment for snooker, and the home of this tournament for many years.
Last year, Neil Robertson took home the title, defeating Judd Trump in a thrilling game that ended 10-9, and more of the same drama would certainly be welcome this time around.
A packed house will be in attendance for the event in York, which is only going to add more to this very special snooker event.
UK Championship Outright Betting
Despite losing the final last year, Judd Trump comes in as favourite for this time around. He has last year’s winner Robertson behind him, while the likes of Ronnie O’Sullivan, Mark Selby and John Higgins form the rest of the main challengers.
In terms of ranking points, the two top players this season have been Mark Selby and Judd Trump, and they have been well clear of the rest. Ronnie O’Sullivan is back in third, with Neil Robertson back in fourth.
All of those four have won the UK Championship in the last five years, except for favourite Trump, who has won this competition, but that was 10 years ago.
Mark Selby hasn’t won this title since 2016, which is surprising giving his dominance at the World Championship, an event he has won four times in the last eight years.
That may be down to the shorter format here, but it would of course be no surprise to see the current World Champion come here and win the UK title.
Only Ronnie O’Sullivan has claimed back to back titles in this event, but given he has won it three times in the last eight years, Neil Robertson certainly has the profile to be able to do that. While Selby looks to struggle here, Robertson clearly thrives in this competition.
Away from the big names, the outsiders look as though they do not have a game that is consistent enough to go all the way, even though some of them have the ability to shock in one-off games against better opponents.
With that in mind, it is worth chancing the Australian to win here again, he is a player made for this stage, which cannot be said about Selby and Trump in particular.
UK Championship Name the Finalists
Judd Trump is not the clear favourite that the odds suggest, and given his struggles to win this tournament again, the value may be to oppose him making the final.
Given Mark Selby’s record here, he may not be able to win the tournament, but how he’s played recently suggests he can still give a very good account of himself.
